Water District 19 is the largest Group A Public Water System on Vashon Island and operates under the authority and requirements of RCW Title 57 ~ Sewer and Water Districts.
The District was established in 1925 by special election and at the time, encompassed only one square mile surrounding the unincorporated town of Vashon.
The District has grown to include retail service areas and corporate boundary of just over six square miles. All residents within the boundary area vote for the Board of three Commissioners, elected at-large from the community.
As of 2023, the District serves 1486 connections. Service is accomplished through our deep well field, two surface water creeks, a water treatment plant, 1.725 million gallons of water storage capacity and many miles of transmission and distribution mains.
